Ijamsville (pronounced eye-amz-vil), is a small town in southeast Frederick county near Urbana. It was originally founded by a local Plumber, Ijams, who purchased the land called “Paradise Grant” back in 1785.
Briefly a mining town, it transitioned to agriculture in the mid 1800’s. A large quantity of the land was later sold to developers in the mid to late 20th century and has primarily become residential.
Ijamsville features some prestigious neighborhoods in Frederick County, such as Whiskey Creek, The Manor, and Holly Ridge to name a few.
